Sixteen-year-old Bonu Ugo got a flame burn during early childhood. Three of the fingers contracted on his right hand. Although the remaining two fingers were not directly involved, both of them got contracted as well due to lack of normal use. Bonu was operated on in November 2014 at Dr. Erikson's burn unit in Addis Ababa. After several weeks of physiotherapy/hand therapy, he could finally return to his home in south Ethiopia. As he left the burn unit, he said, " I am so pleased and thankful, now I can greet (shake hands) with people in a normal way."
