Our Mission
The Entoto Foundation is dedicated to helping Ethiopians gain access to medical care and treatment that is otherwise not available to them. With only 1 doctor for every 40,000 people, Ethiopians have very limited or no access to medical care that you or I would consider "basic." The money we raise helps pay for critical medical equipment, supplies, and medicine as well as the training of health care personnel in Ethiopia. When essential medical procedures or treatments are not available within Ethiopia, the Entoto Foundation provides funds and logistical support for patients to obtain health care abroad.
The Entoto Foundation operates with a highly dedicated, all-volunteer staff. We also have a sponsor who helps pay for fundraising and other miscellaneous expenses. Nearly 100% of your contributions go to those people we have pledged to help!

Elementary School Kids Rally to Help 9-Year-Old Nahum
This past May, kids at Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary in Carlsbad, CA rallied to help a young Ethiopian boy named Nahum get the spine surgery he so desperately needed. Over 80 students spanning kindergarten through 6th grade participated in Entoto Track Day to raise funds for Nahum. The effort raised $1500 for Nahum's spine surgery and all the participants got a great work out from Coach Steve Scott and the San Marcos Track Team!
Nahum is now in Ghana where he will receive his spine surgery shortly. FOCOS, a non-profit organization headed up by one of the world's best spine surgeons, Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, will perform Nahum's surgery. Hopefully, Nahum will be returning to Ethiopia in a few weeks with good health, a straight back and a future to look forward to. Thanks to all the kids at Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary!

Nine-year-old Nahum suffers from severe scoliosis and has lost almost 60% of his lung capacity from his condition. Without surgery, his condition will worsen and become life-threatening. OPE's effort raised $1500 to help pay for his surgery. If you would like to make a contribution to help Nahum, please click here or visit our "contribute" page.
